Who Should Opt for Surrogacy?

1. In Vitro Fertilisation IVF in Raipur

When a woman fails to conceive a baby due to some reasons, she requires the help of another woman, who carries her baby in her uterus through the process called surrogacy. The carrier woman is known as a surrogate and she has to undergo In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) in order to place the fertilized egg into the surrogate's uterus. Before opting for surrogacy in India, couples are screened for,

a) Congenital absence of uterus (Mullerian agenesis)

b) Surgical removal of the uterus (hysterectomy) due to cancer, severe hemorrhage in Caesarian section or a ruptured uterus.

2. A woman whose uterus is malformed (unicornuate uterus, T shaped uterus, bicornuate uterus with rudimentary horn) or damaged uterus (T.B of the endometrium, severe Asherman’s Syndrome) or at high risk of rupture, (previous uterine surgeries for rupture uterus or fibroid uterus) and is unable to carry pregnancy to term can also be recommended IVF surrogacy.

3. Women who have repeated miscarriages or have repeated failed IVF cycles may be advised IVF surrogacy in view of unexplained factors which could be responsible for failed implantation and early pregnancy wastage.

4. Women who suffer from medical problems like diabetes, cardio-vascular disorders, or kidney diseases like chronic nephritis, whose long term prospect for health is good but pregnancy would be life threatening.

5. Woman with Rh incompatibility.

Is Surrogacy for you?

For some couples opting for surrogacy is a very straight forward decision, while, for others there are lots of things to be considered and thought about before taking the decision. There are lots of complex issues involved. It is an emotional roller coaster ride for the couple, the families and friends. It is a decision where the 'right' and the 'wrong' are very individual things. An infertility specialist or a counselor can help the couple seeing things in the right perspective. Other options such as, adoption or further infertility treatment can also be considered.

Traditional Surrogacy

1. Sometimes, the intended mother fail to produce mature eggs, that is, ovaries do not produce normal follicles due to ovulatory dysfunction. In such situations, the IUI procedure is followed on surrogate mother. In this procedure, the infertility specialist will transfer sperm that is taken from the biological father and will subsequently transfer that sperm into the surrogate's uterus so that fertilization may take place naturally.

2. A traditional surrogate will undergo insemination at the time of her natural ovulation, occasionally necessitating medication prescribed by her doctor to make sure that she does ovulate.

3. The child will have a genetic link to his father, since the father's sperm was used in creating the baby. There is no genetic link to the intended mother; which is a primary difference between traditional and gestational surrogacy.

4. Therefore, with traditional surrogacy, the surrogate is also the biological mother of the child. This type of surrogacy is typically only used if the biological mother's egg and/or the biological father's sperm are unable to be used.

5. Generally, people over the age of 50 or women who are unable to use their own eggs use traditional surrogacy since the option frees the intended parents from age-related limitations.

In gestational surrogacy, the egg and sperm of the intended parents are used to form an embryo through a process called in vitro fertilization and later it is transferred in surrogate’s uterus to carry it for pregnancy. In most of the cases, it will take between three and five days for the embryos to develop in the laboratory prior to transferring them to the surrogate. Then, once the embryo has successfully been placed into the surrogate's uterus, the surrogate will carry the embryo through the pregnancy term until its birth.

1. With gestational surrogacy, the surrogate's eggs are not used at all. Therefore, the child will not be related to the surrogate biologically.

2. It allows a couple to have a biologically related child by using a surrogate as the carrier for the couple's embryo.

3. The aid of a gestational surrogate is needed when a woman is unable to conceive naturally or through fertility treatments.

4. This option is explored after fertility drugs or in-vitro fertilization have proven unsuccessful, or if either party has irregularities in their reproductive organs that complicate conception.

5. The rate of success when using in vitro fertilization will depend upon several factors such as the age and health of the biological mother who is providing the eggs.

6. The process of gestational surrogacy can take several years including the amount of time to find an adequate surrogate, extraction of viable eggs and sperm can take several weeks from intended parents, preparation of surrogate for pregnancy with a hormone regimen that can take several months, implanting the embryos and additional nine months for the gestational surrogate to carry the baby.

India versus Thailand on Surrogacy

A slew of surrogacy scandals have lifted a lid on Thailand’s largely unregulated commercial surrogacy industry, which has been around for over a decade. Below are the few controversial cases that drew a large amount of flak and also led to Thai military government’s decision to draft a new law that is expected to outlaw the business of surrogacy.

Below are the three scandals that brought unregulated surrogacy sector of Thailand under scanner –

An Australian couple, who had hired a Thai surrogate to their twins, returned home with a healthy baby girl but left behind her twin brother with Down syndrome, in late July.

Shortly after, a new case of 24-year-old Japanese man who fathered at least 16 babies via Thai surrogates emerged.

A third case emerged when an Australian man charged with sexually abusing twin girls he fathered several years ago with a Thai surrogate. The man was charged in an Australian court last year for committing indecent acts with a child.

Thailand has become a favorite destination for couples from Australia, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, and a low-cost alternative to the United States. However, Thailand is one of the few countries in Asia where commercial surrogacy is not specifically banned by law. Previously, the Medical Council of Thailand had a regulation stating that doctors cannot perform surrogacy for pay or risk losing their license. But that penalty has rarely been enforced and there are no rules covering surrogacy agencies or surrogate mothers, leaving room for commercial surrogacy to occur without oversight.

Thailand's New Draft Law on Surrogacy

In response to the recent global attention, Thailand’s military government has vowed to shut down the commercial surrogacy industry. A draft law expected to pass the junta-appointed legislature sometime this year prohibits commercial surrogacy and would penalize offenders with up to 10 years in prison. Agencies, advertisers, or recruiters of surrogate mothers will face up to five years in jail and a fine of up to 100,000 baht ($3,000). Experts say they fear the law will not end commercial surrogacy in Thailand and instead push it underground.

Indian Surrogacy Laws remained lose for years, while the medical council continued its attempt to regulate surrogacy sector for years. After 2002, Surrogacy Laws in India have undergone an immense change. The Union of India is taking steps to for legalizing surrogacy and making India a risk-free destination when it comes to international surrogacy arrangements. The Indian Government is implementing legal mechanisms to ensure that the child born out of surrogacy arrangement in India would have a safe passage back home. Though such measures have affected few nationals, it could be considered legally safe in the long run for surrogacy in India.

After rounds of discussion with various ministries, the Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Bill, 2013 has been cleared and will be presented before Union Cabinet during winter session of 2014, confirmed a senior health ministry official on September 22. The decision comes closely after the regularisation and legal framework of Surrogacy in India was debated. The undeniable fact about several illegal ART units cropping up across the country to shortchange the infertile couples gives a reason for the urgent need of passing the bill.

Indian Government has also chalked out certain guidelines on surrogacy to make the whole process transparent and allow to hitches. The Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) Bill, 2013 seeks to address issues like number of pregnancies allowed to a surrogate mother, age limit and due compensation paid to the surrogates. A framework would be designed for foreigners to seek surrogacy help from India surrogate mothers. With this, the issues of consent and health of surrogate mother would also be resolved.

The Health Ministry has considered the fact that commercial surrogacy changes to biological ability of a woman to reproduce into a commercial activity when money transaction is involved and lack of proper legal framework further complicated the whole process.

Therefore, an immediate need of strong legal provisions to safeguard the interest of the surrogate mother, commissioning parents and the child born through surrogacy process has been considered.

Are You Willing to Become a Gestational Surrogate?

To become a gestational surrogate for a couple is a decision that requires huge amount of emotional investment. The whole phase of 10-12 months and even the period after that is life changing. For a woman, who wants to become a gestational surrogate, she might be surrounded with certain reservations. Some of those frequently asked questions are answered below,

1. Should a woman have had a previous pregnancy and delivery before becoming a gestational surrogate?

Yes. Before becoming a surrogate for someone else, you need to have gone through it once for yourself before you decide you are willing to go through same for someone else. Women who have healthy, strong, bodies that provide safe and nourishing places for an embryo to grow into a fetus and be delivered as a baby are selected for gestational surrogacy process. You would be medically examined and asked whether you have completed a pregnancy without any serious medical conditions.

2. Are gestational surrogates genetically related to the baby?

No. It is because the gametes, i.e., the egg and sperm used to make that embryo are of intended parents or donors and you are required to carry the embryo formed from those gametes. Therefore, the child would not be genetically related to the gestational surrogate.

3. What are the age requirements for gestational surrogates?
A woman must be at least 21 years of age and below 40.

4. Is there anything required from surrogate’s partner?
Yes. Your partners needs to assist you in,

  • Emotional support

  • Infectious Disease Testing. In medical screening (HIV, Hepatitis B and C, CMV, and any other sexually transmitted diseases or disorders) to avoid any high risk behaviors is also important for your partner (no tattoos with unsterile needles, new sexual partners, etc.).

  • Participation in psychological meeting.

5. Are gestational surrogates allowed to have sex?

If you are sexually active, you can generally continue your intimate relationship without restrictions. A healthy sex life is beneficial to your relationship and can reduce stress. However, some IVF clinics may place restrictions on intercourse around the time of the embryo transfer or if you are pregnant and experiencing bleeding. The medical provider at the clinic would be the person to make the final recommendation about intercourse.

6. Does any part of the gestational surrogacy process hurt?

Becoming pregnant as a surrogate does involve a number of vaginal ultrasounds and speculum exams. These exams are not pleasant and if they are painful, you should let the medical provider seeing you. There are modifications that can be made to make the experience less uncomfortable.
The embryo transfer often requires the surrogate to have a full bladder. It may sound odd, but that is one of the most common things people complain about! The actual embryo transfer, at most would be a little bit crampy, for most clients.

7. Can I continue the medications I regularly take during the process?

Yes, most medications are safe during pregnancy. Pahlajani Surrogacy Care
will review each medication you take and discuss it in the context of becoming pregnant. The fertility medical provider you will be seeing at the IVF clinic is the person who will make the final decision about which medications you can take, which ones may need to be switched, and if any medicines need to be stopped. Your health and well being is a top priority, so no changes will be made without your agreement.

As a gestational surrogate, you would be expected to take prenatal vitamins and possibly some supplements, based on the vitamin you are taking. These costs would be reimbursed, per your Gestational Surrogacy Agreement.

Life of Surrogates in India

India is emerging as a leader in international surrogacy. Indian surrogates are becoming increasingly popular with couples from all over the world because surrogacy in India is much simpler as well as less costly. Few particular reasons are low cost surrogacy assistance, detachment of Indian females from drug and alcohol activities.

Also, Indian IVF Clinics are becoming more competitive in low cost surrogacy assistance and hiring of Indian females as surrogates. Gestational surrogacy is very popular choice of infertile couples from abroad. A number of couples fly to India to get a baby of their own genes.

In India surrogacy was legalized in 2002, considering that it would be helpful for those women who are naturally not in a position to become a mother. At the same time, this practice helps those families with lack of financial stability and those families which are having the problem of lack of peace due to absence of child. Women in India, generally, become surrogates with dual aim, to assist the infertile couple and also to assist her family and children. Such women dream to give proper education to their children.

However, even after 12 years since the surrogacy was legalized, surrogate mothers face certain levels of social stigma and ostracism. As a practice surrogacy involves the bodies of poor women, which in India’s socially conservative culture, is cause enough for derision.

Butthe point is what the ethical issues are as to commercial surrogacy. Many argue that surrogate arrangements depersonalize reproduction and create a separation of genetic, gestational, and social parenthood. Others argue that there is a change in motives for creating children. According to them children are not conceived for their own sakes, but for another’s benefit.

Surrogates in India are bound around certain limitations. Few of those are no woman may act as a surrogate more than thrice in her lifetime, she and her husband has had no extramarital relationship in the last six months to ensure that the person would not come up with symptoms of HIV infection during the period of surrogacy, no drug abuse, and not undergo blood transfusion excepting of blood obtained through a certified blood bank.

Thus, commercial surrogacy continues to be highly stigmatized in India. Surrogates are spending the term of their pregnancy in surrogate homes in India and try to keep it a secret because reproduction is regarded as acceptable only within marriage; taken outside the domestic sphere of family, childbearing for economic achievement may be seen as ‘dirty work,’ ‘baby-selling’ or ‘womb-renting.’

People should know that the right to reproduce is a fundamental human right and surrogacy helps to conquer both biological and social infertility. It provides medically infertile couples to have a child of their own. Legalization of gestational surrogacy aims to protect the surrogate’s interests as well as those of the intended parents and the baby born after the surrogacy.

Does obesity reduce chance of getting pregnant with donor egg?

According to a new study conducted by Washington University of Medicine, women who use donor eggs to become pregnant through in vitro fertilization (IVF), those who are obese are just as likely to become pregnant as normal weight women. The study showed that these complications are restricted to women trying to conceive naturally. Obesity doesn't significantly affect women trying to conceive through in vitro fertilization (IVF).

However, the women are advised to reduce weight before pregnancy in any type of conception, including ovum donation. Being obese during pregnancy can have a major impact on your health and your baby's health. The best way to protect your health and your baby's wellbeing is to lose weight before you become pregnant. By reaching a healthy weight, you increase your chances of conceiving naturally and reduce your risk of the problems associated with being overweight in pregnancy.

Obesity is not an influential factor when it comes to analyzing the differences in the rates of miscarriages or live births among obese women who use donor eggs. Investigators aren’t sure whether the quality of a woman’s eggs or her uterus is most affected by obesity. As a result, several studies have focused on donor egg recipients to provide some clues.

Many IVF programs have arbitrary body mass index (BMI) restrictions that help them determine whether women can receive treatment. These cutoffs need to be re-examined.

In this analysis, obesity (defined as a BMI over 30) was not associated with a difference in pregnancy rates when compared with pregnancy rates in women with a normal BMI. The data from this study also indicates that obesity was not associated with differences in the rates of miscarriage or live birth among obese women who used donor eggs, when compared with women of normal weight. However, live births and miscarriages were not reported in all of the studies.

Previous studies have stated that obesity reduces chances of spontaneous pregnancy in women. Even if an obese woman gets pregnant, there are high possibilities of her suffering complications. Obesity was not found to be associated with differences in the rates of miscarriage or live birth among obese women who used donor eggs, when compared with women of normal weight.

However, reproductive outcome has affected female obesity. An analysis egg donation treatment shows that female obesity reduced the receptivity of uterus of embryo implantation and thereby compromises reproductive outcome.

If you are very overweight and you are pregnant, don't try to lose weight during your pregnancy as this may not be safe. Although there are risks associated with being obese during pregnancy, there is no evidence that losing weight while you're pregnant will reduce these risks.

Surrogacy for International Patients

Pahlajani Test Tube Baby Center assists the international patients from start to end of their journey of Surrogacy in India. It provides complete fertility package for patients from all around the world with infertility assistance, in vitro fertilization services, providing egg donors and surrogacy options as well.

How to go about surrogacy in India?

Generally, the couples considering surrogacy option are not sure how to go about the process, from where to start or who to consult. They might find it difficult to list down authentic surrogacy clinics from the list of numerous faux and dead links all over the internet which might lead them nowhere. For them, there are few things they should consider before selecting a particular clinic.

1.      Ensure that you establish a direct contact with the doctor and not through any agencies.
2.    Read the success stories of the particular clinic you are considering for surrogacy assistance.
3.    Find out whether the doctor writes blogs for the patients.
4.    Try to resolve your queries and question everything before deciding. (Ask about how surrogate would be arranged? Egg donation process?)
5.     Calculate the cost and compare it with other clinics.

After multiple surrogacy and IVF successes, Raipur has become a new destination for couples to seek surrogacy assistance. Many patients from across the world come to Raipur, capital of state Chhattisgarh in India for surrogacy and IVF, come for easy surrogacy and IVF assistance.

1.      You can book tickets online, and find the best deals by asking Indian travel agents in your city.
2.    Your husband can accompany you, or you can hand-carry his frozen sperm in a dry shipper (which you will need to borrow from your local infertility clinic) or in a dry ice box packed with dry ice.
3.    We can help arrange accommodation.
4.    You only need to make 4-6 visits to clinic in entire cycle. (You will need to spend 10 to 20 days at our clinic to complete an IVF cycle of treatment.)
5.     After embryo transfer, you can fry back to home.
6.    To make the process resistance free, we have protocols to establish direct contact of patient with us through emails.
7.     After going back home, you can have preliminary testing and care performed by your own doctor.

Over half of our patients come to us from Raipur, and other quarter of patients come from overseas, therefore we have experience to meet special needs of our patients.

Surrogacy in India Mythology

It was from the period of Mahabharat that surrogacy was practiced started. Not commercial though, but practice of carrying child for intended mother. There are references in Indian mythology to surrogacy, most notably in the legend surrounding Lord Krishna.

Notably, before the advent of modern assisted conception techniques, natural surrogacy was the only means of helping childless women to have children. Later as artificial insemination was accepted, this became the usual means of achieving pregnancy in cases of infertility, being more socially acceptable than the natural way. When assisted conception methods such as invitro fertilization (IVF) become available, it was a method to use the eggs of the women wanting the baby/donor woman and the sperm of her husband/donor male, to create their embryos in vitro and transfer these to a suitable host.

Another story of embryo transfer was regarding the seventh pregnancy of Devaki, by the will of the Lord, the embryo was transferred to the womb of Rohini, the first wife of Vasudev, to prevent the baby being killed by baby Kamsa. Therefore, surrogacy is practiced in India from the time of Mahabharat.

Surrogacy has been a sensitive issue in India and there is constant controversy over Indian laws to regularise surrogacy sector.
However, unlike countries like Germany and Canada, where surrogacy is outlawed, India has maintained that the surrogacy beneficial for both surrogate mother and intended parents. In United Kingdom, surrogacy is highly regulated and very expensive while in Germany, there have been a few controversial cases.

Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh has dominated its presence by constantly making news about increasing ‘surrogacy tourism’. Surrogacy in India has benefited couples from the world to have babies. Pahlajani IVF Center ensures extraordinary surrogacy journeys of both surrogate mother and intended parents.

Despite knowing that surrogacy is practiced in India since Mahabharat age but still people let the inhibitions grow and attach unnecessary doubts to the entire process. It cannot be ruled out that surrogacy requires having confidence in third person sometimes you meet for the first time but reputed IVF Clinics in India ensure resistance free surrogacy journey in India.

IVF for Surrogacy and Egg Donation

For assisted reproduction purposes, egg donation typically involves the process of in vitro fertilization as the eggs are fertilized in the laboratory; more rarely, unfertilized eggs are frozen and stored for later use by the intended parents. Egg donation is part of the process of third party reproduction as part of ART (Assisted Reproductive Technology).

After egg donation, In vitro fertilization (IVF) is performed for gestational surrogacy. In the process, eggs are removed from an egg donor or from the intended mother and fertilized with sperm in a lab to create embryos. The resulting embryos are grown in laboratory conditions for 3-5 days. In a surrogacy arrangement, these embryos are then implanted into the uterus of a gestational surrogate. In an egg donation arrangement, they are transferred into the intended mother.

For the IVF procedure, surrogates and egg donors undergo medical treatments. An egg donor will be injected medications to stimulate the production of eggs. A surrogate takes medications to prepare her body for the embryo implantation.

Intended parents need to make a variety of choices in conjunction with the medical team at your IVF clinic. These decisions directly affect not only the success of the procedure, but also the number, health, and the biological makeup of the prospective children. The quality of the resulting embryos may affect the number that is recommended to be implanted. You may also have legal agreements in place that stipulate the number of embryos that can be transferred. You will also need to determine what to do with any remaining frozen embryos following the procedure.

The egg retrieval and IVF procedures are brief. Following the embryo transfer, your surrogate will require a period of bed rest. At any point in the process, you should feel free to reach out to your IVF clinic for any medical questions or to Circle with any questions about your contract, travel, or any other related issues.

Surrogacy after Embryo Implantation Failure

India is acknowledged for being a global leader in IVF technology for two basic reasons - surrogates are easily available and IVF treatment is much less expensive, many couples travel to India for surrogacy treatment.

Typically, women who ask for surrogacy are older women, or women who have failed many IVF cycles. Surrogacy is the solution to their problem of repeated failed embryo implantation.

Here there is a common reason why embryo implantation fails. Some women think that it is because of their defective uterus but actually the implantation fails because of genetically abnormal embryos. Now, if the embryos are abnormal it might be the reason for an abnormal baby. While these defects are often random, they are commoner in older women. This is because the eggs of older women have more genetically abnormalities, because they have aged and have genetic defects, which cannot be screened for.

As women get older, their fertility declines. Most assume that this is because their reproductive system is aging - and for most women their reproductive system consists of their uterus. With reduction in fertility the functioning of uterus becomes poor.

Surrogacy in India has benefits considering the women being more receptive towards the entire process and the cost of surrogacy in India is affordable. Even Indian laws are flexible. With gestational surrogacy, infertile couples can pass on their genetics to children. Therefore, surrogacy after repeated embryo implantation failure should be considered after consultation with doctor.

Egg Donation

Egg donation is the process in which a woman donates eggs, also called ova or oocytes for purposes of assisted reproduction. The donated eggs are used for in vitro fertilization as the eggs are fertilized in the laboratory or are frozen and stored for later use by the intended parents.

Below is the process of egg donation -

1. Locating Egg Donors

For finding egg donors, you can contact donation agencies or fertility clinics in India.

2. Educating donors

It is important that a donor is educated about the medical process, reproductive system, effects of donation, medical implications, legal requirements, and complications involved in the process.

3. Medical background of donor

The donors would have to undergo some specific tests before donation to ensure they are fit for the program, and will give good results as expected by parents.

4. Signing Contract

After discussions, briefing, understanding the responsibilities, limitations, financial considerations, a contract is signed with the donor.

5. No contact with Intended parents

As per the Indian laws, the egg donation is anonymous.

6. Medical Procedure

The retrieval of egg is done through medical procedure by ensuring best medical facilities at Pahlajani Surrogacy Care.

What Gestational Surrogate Needs to Know

Serving as gestational surrogate for an infertile couple to create a family is a something not everyone can do. It requires investment of emotions and few other complexities to deal with.

There are certain things a gestational surrogate needs to know,
First, any woman serving as surrogate needs to that there is great range of medical information available.

1. Eggs of surrogate are not used in gestational surrogacy

The eggs, or oocytes, come from either the intended mother or a third-party egg donor. This is why we call it “gestational surrogacy,” not “traditional surrogacy.”

2. Necessary routine tests

Gestational surrogate would need to undergo vaginal ultrasound that allows the physician to examine the uterus. There are chances the surrogate may be asked to have a hysteroscopy — in which a tiny camera painlessly examines your uterus — or other procedure to determine the general health of your uterus. Routine blood tests will be given to rule out the presence of communicable diseases such as AIDS, herpes, and hepatitis. You will be asked to provide an up-to-date pap smear, and might be requested to have a mammogram done.

3. Embryo formation

As a gestational surrogate, you will be given several medications to help prepare your uterus to receive the embryo. These medications may include standard birth control pills (at the beginning of your menstrual cycle). You will be started on estrogen at about the time the intended mother or the egg donor is being induced to ovulate if the embryo transfer cycle is a coordinated or “fresh,” one. Then, just before her eggs are harvested, you will begin on another hormone — progesterone — to further prepare for implantation.

Normally, you will be required to continue to take hormones, usually by injection, even if the embryo transfer is what we call a “frozen” cycle, where the embryos have already been created and are frozen for future use by the intended parents. Remember, this is meant to be general guidance here, and is not meant in any way to be giving medical advice or instruction.

In this, hormones are given to the intended mother or the egg donor to induce ovulation, and her eggs are harvested via aspiration guided by vaginal ultrasound. Then, from 50,000 to one million sperm are mixed with the eggs and incubated, so that fertilization can occur. When the timing is right, the resulting embryos are transferred into your uterus, as the gestational surrogate.

5. Embryo transfer

The embryo is carefully flushed in the liquid medium for transfer through your cervix into your uterus. Sometimes, the doctor will use ultrasound to help with placement of embryos, and afterward you may be asked to remain lying-down for a period of time.

6. Blood tests

After two weeks of embryo transfer, a simple blood test will be performed to confirm pregnancy — at which point both estrogen and progesterone medication may be continued.

Pahlajani Surrogacy India: Very Low Cost Surrogacy and Surrogate Mother

Each year, an estimated 25,000 foreign couples visit India for surrogacy services, resulting in more than 2,000 births. Surrogacy is a negotiate in India  running anywhere from $15,000 to $20,000, the service is roughly a one fourth of the U.S. price and the traditionally lax regulations surrounding the industry have made it a popular destination for couples from countries where surrogacy is not legal, including several European nations and most of Australia. The combination of excellent medical facilities and attractive cost brings couples from all over the world to India.

Infertility is not about being unable to conceive, it is the trauma that an individual or the couple passes through. Surrogacy is a method of assisted reproduction. Surrogacy, sometimes dubbed "rent-a-womb” is a procedure by which a woman carries another women's fertilized egg to term, usually in cases where the biological mother is unable to carry the pregnancy. Many couples that cannot bear children are increasingly turning to surrogacy as a possibility to fulfill their parenthood dreams.

In general, couples first investigate surrogacy in their home country.  Some couples find that either the cost, or their country's legal environment, makes it very difficult to pursue surrogacy and then start investigating options for surrogacy abroad.  The most common overseas option is surrogacy in India. The high cost of surrogacy in Europe and the US means many Western women are outsourcing pregnancy abroad.

Commercial surrogacy is a booming industry in India with legions of childless foreign couples looking for a low-cost, legally simple route to parenthood. It is estimated that the industry now generates more than $2 billion in revenues annually with an estimated 2000 surrogacy births in year 2010, up to 50% in two years. Part of the demand is financial, in the USA; the cost of surrogacy is around 100 thousand dollars. In India, it is about half- and that includes all medical expenses.

Aspiring parents for whom surrogacy is not an option in their home countries can easily find a surrogate mother for hire in India to expand their family. In many countries around the world, surrogacy is either too expensive, illegal, or not available to certain demographics. Surrogacy in India is available to all. Surrogacy costs for a single successful round typically range from $15,000 to $20,000 with success rates as high as 50% depending on the age of the woman providing the eggs.

Once the journey of surrogacy is decided then the question arises next is the selection of surrogate mother. If the couple has decided to go for surrogacy abroad in India then they are at advantage. Same like the surrogacy treatment the cost of surrogate mother is also cheaper in India. Prospective parents can expect to spend 50% less on a surrogate mother for hire in India than they would in a developed country. The low cost of surrogacy in India may surprise you. The factors responsible for low cost of surrogates in India includes

A.       The biggest factor responsible for such low prices is the cost of living in India which is significantly cheaper than in the Western countries.
B.       Healthcare facilities available are cheaper in India. In fact, India is a very popular destination for medical tourists seeking great deals on everything from cosmetic surgery to dentistry to heart surgery.
C.       Many surrogacy clinics in India offer attractive packages that includes facilities like fees of doctors, fees of surrogate mother, legal fees, other medical necessities like tests and medications, Visa /Passport for Parents and New-Born, IVF/ICSI procedure including Embryo Freezing, Medications and other expenses for the surrogate, hotel accommodation and site seeing for intended parents. This makes it very advantageous for the foreigners.

Surrogacy arrangements currently costs from $15,000 to $20,000 approximately in India, most out of which actually goes to the surrogate. How much money goes to the surrogate mother depends, just like in any profession, on the experience of surrogate mother. For the surrogate mothers who are starting first time the amount paid is less then compared to the amount paid to the experienced surrogate. But normally about one-fourth of the package price goes to surrogate mother.

Normally surrogate mothers in India come from lower middle-class families. Surrogate mothers do it to enhance their family's financial condition. Many do it to pay their debts, to buy their own house or get their children a good education.

The city of Raipur is well connected by air, rail and road and hence is becoming one of the major tourist spots of Chhattisgarh.

History of Chhattisgarh
The history of Chhattisgarh dates back tens of thousands of years. The anthropologists with latest study have discovered evidences of some of the most primitive human habitations in the rocks and caves of this ancient land. As per the mythological history of Chhattisgarh, it is seen that the area goes back to the period of Ramayana and Mahabharata. According to fable the deep Sal forest regions are Dandakaranya itself, where Lord Rama had stayed during his fourteen-year exile from Ayodhya. The uninterrupted history of Chhattisgarh or South Kosala can be somewhat traced to the 4th century AD. Between the 6th and 12th centuries AD the Sarabhpurias, Panduvanshi, Somvanshi, Kalchuri, and Nagvanshi rulers dominated this area.

Till the end of the 18th century AC, in the medieval period, the region came to be known as Gondwana and became an extended part of the kingdom of the Kalchuris who then ruled the region. As per the Muslim chroniclers of the 14th century AD the region also came under the suzerainty of the Mughal Empire around the 16th century and later under the Marathas in 1745. Later Marathas dominated the region and the entire region of Chhattisgarh was somewhat plundered by the year 1758. Following strictly the glorious Chhattisgarh history it is seen that 'Chhattisgarh' was popularized during the Maratha period and was first used in an official document in 1795. With the British interferences in the early 19th century, much of the territory was taken into the Central Provinces. Chhattisgarh also took part in the 1857 Revolution when Vir Narayan Singh, a landlord of Sonakhan, severely opposed the injustices of British rule in the region. In the year 1904 British restructured the region and transferred Sambalpur to Orissa and included the estates of Surguja to Chhattisgarh.
As per the history of Chhattisgarh, India the demand for a separate Chhattisgarh state was initiated by the Raipur Congress unit at the meeting of the Raipur district Congress in 1924. It was seen or rather presumed that the region of Chhattisgarh was culturally and historically separate from the rest of Madhya Pradesh and deserved a special recognition of its own. During that time the plea was not taken into consideration. After the independence of India, the demand for a separate state again was encouraged and in 1955 it was raised in the Nagpur assembly of the then state of Madhya Bharat, which eventually did not materialize. And finally the vision of a separate state of Chhattisgarh became a true reality when it was declared the 26th state of India on 1st November 2000. While educating yourselves about Chhattisgarh general info, it is quite interesting to know about history of Chhattisgarh, India.
